This four-week lecture series, presented by the Asian Art Council in conjunction with Sustaining Fellows, considers the key themes that both bind the various manifestations of Islamic visual culture and celebrate the broad diversity of expression found in different Islamic lands and times. A lunch will follow each lecture.

The April 23 lecture, "The Language of Islamic Ornament," is presented by Daniel S. Walker, Pritkzer Chair of Asian Art, Curator of Islamic Art, and Christa C. Mayer Thurman Chair and Curator of Textiles, The Art Institute of Chicago.
