Sharon Johnston and Mark Lee, co–artistic directors of the 2017 Chicago Architecture Biennial, discuss their vision forthe theme of this year's beinnial, “Make New History.” 

Since its establishment in 1998 in Los Angeles, Johnston Marklee has been recognized nationally and internationally. The firm was named one of the 2016 USA Oliver Fellows by United States Artists. A book on its work, House Is a House Is a House Is a House Is a House, was published by Birkhauser in 2016. 

Current projects include the renovation of the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago and the new UCLA graduate art studios campus in Culver City, California. The firm’s work has been exhibited internationally and can be found in the permanent collection of the Art Institute of Chicago.
