Collecting History is a member-exclusive lecture series that explores major works in the permanent collection as well as the visionary collectors, foundations, and artists that brought these treasured artworks to the Art Institute. In this session, discover Katsushika Hokusai’s The Great Wave off Kanagawa and the profound impact of the Clarence Buckingham Japanese Print Collection, which includes 2,500 Japanese prints gifted to the museum in 1914.
