This tour traces the complicated history of eighteenth- and nineteenth-century European monarchies in the delicate features of a porcelain tea service, by looking at the elaborate works from the Meissen and Sèvres manufacturers. Join Woman’s Board Fellow Alice Boone in exploring the political histories in the designs of the legendary Swan Service and Londonderry Vase, among other treasures.

Londonderry Vase, designed by Charles Percier, decoration designed by Alexandre-Théodore Brogniart, painted by Gilbert Drouet (flowers and ornament) and Christophe-Ferdinand Caron (birds), 1813. Gift of the Harry and Maribel G. Blum Fund and the Harold L. Stuart Endowment.
