Artist Talk: Karl Wirsum

January 14, 2015
Price Auditorium
$15 SCA members, $20 general public

As a member of Hairy Who in the early 1960s, Chicago-based artist Karl Wirsum developed a signature style that melded a graphic sensibility—vivid, flat colors and cartoon-like figures—with a quirky sense of humor. Existing somewhere between the real and the imaginary, Wirsum’s satirical work speaks to the political and social flaws, violence, and whimsy of contemporary life.
