$45 per pair; call (773) 508-1117 to register.

Lifelong Learning: The act of observing, talking about and creating art is an alternative way for older adults, including those with dementia, to communicate, reminisce, reflect on their life experiences, and be actively and fully engaged in the present moment with loved ones and care partners.

Art in the Moment is a new program that engages individuals with dementia and their care partners or family members to spark creative dialogue and nurture positive interactions. Together with a trained art therapist from CJE SeniorLife, Art Institute museum educators, and volunteers, participants visit the museum galleries to view and discuss renowned works of art and then engage in related art-making projects.

Everyday Extraordinary takes a second look at a selection of designed objects, furniture and other everyday items that through meticulous craft and creative interpretation have been transformed and elevated to a high art status. Participants will then create a highly useful personal art piece.

Walk-ins cannot be accommodated.

This program meets at the Millennium Park entrance to the Modern Wing at 159 E. Monroe Street.

Individual listening devices will be provided. The program requires light walking with periods of rest. The program is wheelchair-accessible—please visit the Accessibility page for additional information.
