Modern Art at the Art Institute Lecture Series

This course takes a deeper look at the ideals, artists, and historical contexts that characterize early 20th-century modernism. Speakers include curators and educators and emphasizes both the collection of the Art Institute and its special exhibitions on view in the fall.

This seminar offers a small group the chance to connect what you learn in the week’s lecture even further to the Art Institute’s collection and special exhibitions. Each week, seminar participants look closely at artworks in the galleries and have facilitated small group discussions.

This program is offered as a noncredit course within the School of the Art Institute of Chicago’s Adult Continuing Education program.
