The Curatorial Fellowship Program provides two undergraduate students from the Summer Academy cohort with a two-year funded fellowship. Fellows are mentored by Art Institute curators and are introduced to departmental projects and collections. In addition to excursions to local galleries, artist studios, and museums, the fellows are exposed to broad responsibilities of museum work across the institution. In order to pursue original research and to gain exposure to art museums, collections, and art fairs outside Chicago, fellows are provided with access to travel funds.During the two summers of the program, the fellows participate in full-time internships, which allow for full immersion in museum projects and individual guidance from curatorial mentors on academic goals and career paths. Each summer, the fellows attend the National Convening of Curatorial Fellows with participants from all four partner institutions.
