I love looking through holiday cards from my friends and family. Each card reflects the personality of that person in my life—a funny beagle greeting from my fun animal-loving parents, a charming vintage re-dux from a fellow fashionista, a hand-made bejeweled creation from a crafty co-worker, or a religious sentiment from my brother-in-law.
What does this card from the Art Institute’s Prints and Drawings collection say about its creator, printmaker and painter Gustave Baumann? What would you think if you received this card caught between your junk mail circulars, unwelcomed bills, and other holiday greetings?
Greeting card musings aside, we want to remind you that the Art Institute is open through the holidays with the exception of Christmas and New Year’s Day. The Thorne Miniature Rooms will be festively decorated through January 7 and there are plenty of other holiday activities throughout the week.
