Although Impressionism, Fashion, and Modernity won't open at the Art Institute until June 2013, some lucky visitors to The Shops at North Bridge got a little preview of what this sartorially-focused exhibition will feature. Exhibition curator Gloria Groom (second from left) and fashion icon Nena Ivon paired ten paintings from the exhibition (including Tissot's Portrait of Miss L.L. above) with ten contemporary looks pulled from The Shops at North Bridge that articulate how the garments in the paintings might be translated today. And apparently Tissot knew what he was doing, because Ivon pronounced red fall's "it" color. The Impressionists were quite the fashionistas!
