A VERY brief recap of 2009 at the Art Institute of Chicago:
-- The Modern Wing opened.
-- We hosted 50 exhibitions.
-- Jim Cuno, president and director of the museum, was named one of the year's leaders in the arts by the Chicago Tribune.
-- Our Cy Twombly exhibition was named by Richard Lacayo of Time magazine one of the year's top ten exhibitions.
-- The Wall Street Journal recognized James Castle: A Retrospective as one of the top exhibitions of the year (closing January 3!).
-- Paul Goldberger of the New Yorker named the Modern Wing one of the "ten most positive architectural events" of 2009.
-- The Modern Wing was named by TimeOut Chicago as one of the architectural milestones of the decade.
