About Scrapbooks
The Scrapbooks application allows you to save, rearrange, and annotate images and resources you have found on Art Explorer. To create a scrapbook, use "Search by keyword," "Advanced Search" or "Search by Artist" to select some Artworks and/or Resources. With your selection of artworks and/or resources, you can:
- Prepare for a classroom lesson
- Create notes for a school field trip to the Art Institute
- Assign students to create a virtual exhibition of Impressionist or Postimpressionist artworks, with notes on individual artworks
How to Use Scrapbooks
- Conduct a search: Using the Search directions, perform a Keyword Search, Advanced Search, or Search by Artist search. (For example, do a Keyword Search for "Monet.")
- Once the Search Results page comes up, click the checkboxes next to the results you wish to save. Then, click "Add checked items to scrapbook" at the bottom of the page. (Note: this step must be done separately for Artworks and Resources.)
- Login to the scrapbook section: Login as a new user or as a return user by clicking the "Scrapbook Login" link. Follow the directions on the screen. You will not be able to save your scrapbook unless you are logged in. Your selections will be saved as a temporary scrapbook. After you have logged in, you may edit and rename your scrapbook.
- Edit your scrapbook:
- Click the "Edit" link to rename, rearrange, or preview your selections. For example, click the "Rename Scrapbook" link. Enter "Monet" into the text field and click the "Rename" button.
- Next to each selection, there is an "Edit/Add Note" link. Use this link to add notes. Write your notes in the notes field and click "Update item" at the bottom of the screen.
- Use the "Add a note item" link at the bottom of the page to write general notes.
- Use the "Preview Scrapbook" link to view your selections and print your scrapbook.
- Click the title of your scrapbook in the top banner to return to the main scrapbooks menu page.
- Publish your scrapbook:
- Click the "My Scrapbooks" link to return to the main view.
- Once you have edited your scrapbook, click the "Publish" link. A URL link will appear under the scrapbook title. Copy this URL link and email it to share your scrapbook with colleagues and students
