Odundo is one of the foremost contemporary artists from Africa working today. Teardrop I is one of four vessels that Odundo completed late in 1996. Its highly polished, red-orange surface and elegant form were achieved through a time-consuming process of hand-building, followed by intensive burnishing and multiple firings.
