Public Members Groups


Ticket Information

  • Members can reserve a timed entry in advance beginning December 6.
  • Public tickets go on sale December 20.
  • Tickets are dated and timed and required for admission.
  • Ticket price allows entry to both Watercolors by Winslow Homer: The Color of Light and Edward Hopper and general admission to museum.
  • Audio tours may be pre-purchased with any exhibition ticket.
  • The last entry into the exhibition is one hour before the museum closes.
  • Chicago Hotels Offer Special Packages for Homer and Hopper.
Public Tickets
  • Adults: $20 (February only: $10)
  • Senior citizens: $17 (February only: $10)
  • Students (ages 12 and up): $17 (February only: $10)
  • Children (ages 6–11): $8 (February only: $5)
  • Children (ages 5 and under): Free
  • Residents of Chicago with photo ID: $17 (February only: $10)
Three ways to order:

1. Online

Tickets may be purchased online daily, 8:00 a.m. to midnight (CST). There is a convenience fee for each ticket purchased online and a handling fee per order. Tickets may be mailed to you, printed at home, or picked up at the museum's will-call window, depending on the date of your order.

There are no refunds, exchanges, or resale of tickets, and no replacements, refunds, or compensation for lost, stolen, or unused tickets. You must bring your tickets with you when you visit the exhibition.

2. In person

Tickets may be purchased at the Art Institute during regular museum hours with cash, traveler's check, or credit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, or Discover). Personal checks are not accepted.

3. By phone

Call (312) 930-4040 Monday through Friday, from 8:00 to 9:00; Saturday, 8:00 to 7:00; Sunday, 8:00 to 6:00.

There is a convenience fee for each ticket purchased by phone and a handling fee per order. Tickets may be mailed to you, printed at home, or picked up at the will-call window depending on the date of your order.

    Members enjoy private viewing of the exhibitions the first hour of every day:

Member visits during public hours

Day of: Members have unlimited, drop-in access to the exhibitions. Simply check in at the will-call desk on the day of your visit, show your member card, and receive the next available entry time. Entry to the exhibitions is based on capacity.

In Advance: Members have a one-time opportunity to reserve a timed entry in advance, beginning December 6. Make a reservation onsite at the museum or call (312) 466-5000.

Group Tickets

  • Group Sales requires a minimum of 15 people per group.
  • Ticket is valid for both the Hopper and Homer exhibitions. The exhibitions will not be sold separately.
  • Ticket is dated and timed. Access to the exhibitions is based on capacity.
  • Ticket includes museum admission.
  • The exhibitions open to the public one hour after the museum opens. The first viewing hour is reserved for museum members.
  • Audio tour of both exhibitions (approximately 1 hour): $6.00.

  • March 1–May 10: $21.00

School groups from pre-K through high school are welcome. Please note that all groups must have a reservation for either a guided (by a museum docent) or self-led tour. Click here for information.
