Get a head start preparing for your visit with our video “When You Arrive.”

Motor Coach Access and Parking for Buses: The suggested drop-off location for the museum is the southwest corner of Monroe Street and Columbus Drive. While parking on site is not available, the Chicago Convention and Tourism Bureau offers complete parking options.

Group Entrance: The Modern Wing's main Millennium Park entrance located on Monroe Street.

Parking and Transportation

Photography in the Museum: The permanent collection may be photographed without flash, for private use only and not for publication. No tripods, lights, or video cameras are allowed, nor any photography in special exhibitions.

Guided Tours: The museum does not permit lecturing within special exhibitions. However, you are more than welcome to lecture, in small groups, throughout our permanent collection.

Drawing: Drawing is not allowed in the special exhibitions. However, the museum permits drawing with pencil in the permanent collection galleries.

Checkroom Policy: Personal items may be for $1.00 per item. The following items must be checked before entering the galleries: any parcel, purse, bag or tote more than 13x 17 inches, and backpacks, baby carriers, long umbrellas, and briefcases. Food and drink are not allowed in the galleries and cannot be checked. The Art Institute of Chicago reserves the right to refuse checking services for any items at any time.
