This magnificent volume, by Nikodim Kondakov, professor of St. Petersburg University and senior curator of the Imperial Hermitage Museum, describes the unique collection of Byzantine enamels dating from the tenth and eleventh centuries assembled by the famous Russian art collector A. V. Zvenigorodsky (1844¬–1903). Printed for private distribution by the collector in an edition of two hundred copies in German, of which Ryerson's copy is no. 117.
