Turning the Pages: Anatomy Flap Prints, 1613-1754

Lucas Kilian's ornate and educational set of three 'Visions' are interactive anatomical flap prints that allow the viewer to dissect the paper bodies themselves. The first shows Adam and Eve (after Albrecht Dürer's famous 1504 engraving) surrounded by body parts; the second shows a larger-scale figure of Adam; and the third shows Eve. Turning the Pages allows a closer look at these fascinating works, together with images from uncut impressions of a later printing of the sheets that gives an idea of how many flaps there are lurking beneath the surface.
