Art Treasures of Japan, featuring the Setouchi International Art Festival

Experience the artistic synthesis of ancient and modern Japan, as interpreted by Lucas Livingston, assistant director of senior programs and educational liaison to the Art Institute’s Department of Asian and Ancient Art. Begin in Kyoto, where highlights include Ryoan-ji Temple and its Garden of Emptiness, Kinkaku-ji Temple, Tenryu-ji, and excursion to the Miho Museum. Continue to Naoshima, and visit the Benesse Art Site, Chichu Museum, and nearby Art House Project. Travel by ferry to Shikoku, and visit Takamatsu, the former studio of Isamu Noguchi, Ritsurin Garden, and the Setouchi International Art Festival, set in a cluster of islands in the Seto Inland Sea.
