North Africa’s Mediterranean Coast through the Centuries

Sail back in time through centuries of ancient civilizations with Christina Nielsen, assistant curator for medieval art. Begin your journey in Cairo with a visit to the Egyptian Museum. Travel to Giza to tour the Pyramids of Cheops and Chephren and see the Sphinx. Continue to Alexandria to embark Corinthian II. Tour the lighthouse of Pharos, Pompey’s Pillar, and the Greco-Roman Museum. At Khoms, explore the nearby ruins of Leptis Magna and visit Villa Sileen. In Tripoli, explore both the Medina and the Jamahiriya Museum. Continue to Carthage, featuring a visit to the Bardo Museum, known for its spectacular collection of Roman mosaics. Explore Tipasa’s Villa of Frescoes, the Judicial Basilica, the Christian Basilica, the museum, and the nearby Tombeau de la Chretienne.
