Artistic Portraits of Peru

Join Ana Nieves—assistant professor in the art department at Northeastern Illinois University, a native of Peru, and an authority on Peruvian art—on this remarkable program. In the capital city of Lima, visit important architectural icons, including the Main Square, San Francisco Convent, and the Larco-Herrera Museum. In Cusco, experience a mixture of Andean and Spanish cultures while visiting the Santo Domingo Convent, the beautiful Church of La Compania, and the imposing Sacsayhuaman Fortress. Travel to the “Lost City of the Incas” at Machu Picchu, with time to explore the site’s hidden places, including the Gate of the Sun and Temple of the Moon. Board the Andean Explorer and journey south through the magnificent Andean mountains and deep valleys of the Huatanay River to Lake Titicaca with time to explore the floating islands of the Uros and Taquille Island.   Monreale Cathedral Machu Picchu, Peru.
