Village Life in Dordogne

Explore prehistoric caves, medieval castles, and historic villages with David Stark, director of administration and interpretive media in the Art Institute’s Department of Museum Education. Fly to Bordeaux and transfer to Sarlat-la-Canéda, where we spend seven nights in the historic, family-owned Hôtel de la Madeleine. Visit the villages of Rocamadour and Souillac; tour L’Abri du Cap-Blanc and the Museum of Prehistory in Les Eyzies-de-Tayac; tour the villages of St-Amand-de-Coly and St. Geniès; enjoy an excursion to Lascaux II and Rouffignac Cave; stroll Sarlat Market and the Gardens of Eyrignac; tour the fortress of Beynac-et-Cazenac; take a gabare cruise on the Dordogne River; and tour the walled village of Domme. Also enjoy a lecture by a leading preservationist and a Village Forum with local residents who will discuss life in provincial France.   France Rocamadour, France.
