We invite you to contact us if you are interested in donating a work of art to the museum. Due to the volume of offers the Art Institute of Chicago receives, we require all proposed donations be submitted in writing. Please provide the following information by e-mail or mail:

• Your name and address
• Title and artist’s name of the artwork
• Provenance (history of ownership)
• Description of the size and conditions
• Photographs of the artwork

Your materials will be reviewed by the appropriate curatorial department. If the museum is interested in learning more about the donated artwork—or if the piece is not a good fit for our collection—you will be notified. Please note that due to storage limitations, we are not able to accept all donations of art.
