| When it was first published, I read My Love Affair with Modern Art, edited by
Avis Berman, and fell in love with both the book and Katharine Kuh. How I wish I
had known her; not being as familiar with the works of the modern artists Kuh
writes about, the book was a wonderful introduction to them as people, leading
me to fuller investigations of their works. What a marvelous education! I now
have an appreciation of artists I thought I'd NEVER like, and have come to
admire many of the artists that became Kuh's friends, marveling that she knew
these giants of the art world. I've read the book again and again and always
find something new to admire or to investigate. How lovely it would be if it
were possible to meet Kuh in the corridors of the Art Institute! |
