The Art Institute of Chicago
Photography Associates

The Photography Associates was founded in 1989 to create an intimate forum devoted to the art and appreciation of photography and to support the departmentís collections. This exclusive group meets three times a year to hear presentations by artists, curators, and collectors; each event is preceded by wine and hors díoeuvres and followed by a buffet dinner. All Associates also enjoy courtesy membership in the Photographic Society. Funds raised from the group go directly to new acquisitions of photographs for the collection.

The Photography Associates Evenings offer a rare chance to learn from the most important artists of our day, as well as join in a conversation with a photographer that is remarkably personal and compelling. In recent years, the Associates have hosted Tina Barney, Gregory Crewdson, Rineke Dijkstra, Sally Mann, Joel Meyerowitz, Richard Misrach, Abe Morell, Vik Muniz, and Nick Nixon, among others. Additionally, Associates get exclusive access to prestigious local collections of photographs with visits to collectors' homes.
