Friends of Indian and Islamic Art is a group of Art Institute of Chicago members interested in supporting works of art from India, Southeast Asia, the Himalayas, and the Islamic worlds. The group’s primary purpose is to enable the purchase of artworks of the highest quality. Dues of the friends are used to make these acquisitions, and it is the members themselves who determine by vote at an annual friends event which objects from among those selected by the curator will indeed be acquired (subject to approval of the Board of Trustees).
