Barrington Community Associates was founded in 1961 with 42 members, becoming the 6th Community Associates group of the Art Institute of Chicago. The name of the group was changed in 2007 to Barrington/Northwest Community Associates to highlight a greater geographical area for membership. Currently there are 200 members.
A wide variety of local programs, as well as illustrated lectures at the museum and trips to other museums and cultural institutions, provide enriching art appreciation for the members. All programs are coordinated through the Art Institute.
