Founded in 1973, the Auxiliary Board of the Art Institute of Chicago is the oldest auxiliary board in the nation. With its rich history, the Board supports three critical areas of the museum: curatorial departments, family programs, and general operations. Its myriad projects include the commission of Marc Chagall's America Windows, the creation of an endowed architectural lecture series, and the acquisition of several important pieces in the collection. In 2003, the Board announced a $500,000 pledge to the museum's capital campaign for the Modern Wing.

With 60 civic and business leader volunteers, aged 30–50 and living in both Chicago and surrounding areas, this dynamic group is committed to increasing membership and financial support to the museum. Our most recognized events include the Treasure Hunt and Tea Party, now in its 27th year, and Macy's Glamorama.
