Colorful and expansive, the Vitale Family Room is an exciting place to start your family’s museum visit! It is located just inside the Ryan Education Center, where admission is always free!
Family Room Hours
Monday–Sunday, 10:30–5:00
Introduce your child to the museum’s encyclopedic collection with a variety of hands-on activities. Assemble puzzles based on masterpieces you’ll see in the galleries. Help your child build architectural wonders with colorful blocks. And learn about art through interactive stories and games at the Curious Corner (also available online).
Look at original works of art from family exhibitions on display across the hall in the Picture Book Gallery. Sit at the reading table and find your favorite original painting, drawing, or print in the picture book for which it was made. Return to the Family Room to find over 1,300 other picture books to browse. With art, poetry, and storybooks, as well as a selection of books in foreign languages, there is something for everyone to enjoy!
Pick up the museum’s Visitor Guide to plan your own personal journey through the galleries. Not sure where to go? Grab a family self-guide or gallery game at the information desk or ask one of our volunteers.
The Family Room is closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's, Independence, and Labor days.
