Assistant Dean of Student Affairs for Residence Life

Duties: Lead all aspects of the 700+ bed Residence Life program including hiring, training and supervising 6 professional staff and more than 60 student employees. Manage all operations relating to the two residence halls, including: facilities management, policy development, revision and enforcement, and the conduct process, residence education and student development, and crisis management. Serve as the senior Residence Life administrator offering 24-hour on-call support for the professional staff and managing student crises/conduct in the residence halls as well as serve in the Dean’s On Call rotation to provide 24-hour support for Residence Life Professional Staff and off-campus students. As an Assistant Dean, manage and provide leadership and coordination for student crises for both on and off-campus students. Work with the retention team to research and develop a cohesive plan to provide support to students throughout their entire tenure at the School. Manage 3 operating budgets and develop and implement the Residence Hall Capital Asset budget. Liaison with important support services on campus, such as Security, Operations, Information Services and the Early College Program to support our resident population. As assigned and in the absence of the Vice President/Dean of Student Affairs and the Dean of Student Life, serve as the senior student affairs administrator on campus. Evening and weekend commitments are expected.
Qualifications: Master’s degree in college student personnel, counseling or related filed is required. Must have a minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in Residence Life. Experience in facilities management working with budgets and fiscal management. Experience in marketing programs and events. Must have experience working with students in a variety of situations, including student conduct and student crises. Must be sensitive to the needs of a diverse, urban, artists population. Must have demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment, exhibit leadership and manage complex and sensitive crisis situations. Must have excellent decision-making abilities, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Ability to provide a high-level of customer service within a demanding environment to a variety of constituencies, including but not limited to: students, parents, faculty, staff, campus leadership and external entities. Ability to effectively manage and supervise employees, including: organizing, prioritizing and scheduling work assignments; supervising individual employee’s response to students concerns; and attending to their professional development. Demonstrated skills in working within a highly-collaborative environment and ability to effectively create dynamic and strong teams. Excellent understanding of the most current issues in Student Affairs and higher education; including but not limited to: student development strategies and theories; and legal and risk-management issues. Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Must have great organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work. A successful candidate must be a self-starter with a demonstrated ability to plan, organize and prioritize strategies and tasks in an independent way. Evening and weekend commitments and some travel are required.

Assistant Director
Department: Exhibitions & Events

Duties: Implements special exhibitions and time arts programming including planning, obtaining estimates, scheduling tasks, working with outside vendors and supervising the installation. Assists with activities related to the annual undergraduate and graduate exhibitions. Oversees, advises, and provides technical expertise for artists’ projects, events and exhibitions involving AV/computer technology. Purchases materials, supplies, and processes invoices for the department and coordinates daily operations as assigned. Oversees and coordinates special events and rental activity.
Qualifications: Must posses a Master’s degree in visual art or related field. Must have three years of art handling, exhibition production or artist project management experience including budget management, supervisory and administrative experience. Must possess demonstrated expertise with AV technology, computers and other technologies. Must have attention to detail, strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Must be able to manage multiple tasks/projects on a tight schedule. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.

Associate Director, Business Relations
Department: Development – Business & Civic Relations

Duties: The Associate Director of Business Relations will work within the Development Department to initiate, maintain, and steward sponsorships with corporations. Through these sponsorships, the museum will increase the amount of corporate income by creating a new revenue stream to offset the costs of budgeted and special programs, exhibitions and events. In addition, this position is responsible for the Corporate Partners Program, which provides ongoing unrestricted support from corporations.
Qualifications: Must have a minimum 3 - 5 year track record of progressively responsible experience in Development. A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Experience in managing employees is required. Direct grant-writing and budget experience is required. Must possess the ability to work well with individuals who have different needs/requests. Excellent project management, organization, problem-solving, interpersonal, and communication skills. Excellent writing, oral, and interpersonal skills. Must be willing to work on multiple projects simultaneously and meet ambitious deadlines. Organization and attention to detail are imperative.

Enrollment Analyst
Department: Enrollment Services

Duties: Provides statistical information and analysis to support decision making for the admission, registrar and student financial services departments of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. This position is responsible for determining data requirements, identifying data sources, and developing data collection methods to create analytical reports for internal needs as well as state and federal statistical surveys. The incumbent will draw information from university databases (PeopleSoft), state and national datasets, survey results, statistical models, and other sources of factual information.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required; master’s preferred. Minimum of three years experience in statistical reporting, analysis and survey design required. Experience in higher education preferred. A strong interest in quantitative analysis and proficiency in Excel and Access. Experience with PeopleSoft preferred. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and high level of attention to detail.
