Title: Member Relations Representative Internship
Department: Development-Annual Programs
Duties/Responsibilities: A successful candidate in this position will have the opportunity to learn the ability to operate within the structure of a large and developed donor database system, an understanding of a membership benefit structure within a large not-for-profit organization with an emphasis on cultural and educational opportunities, and interpersonal communication skills within a dynamic department and among a diverse membership population.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides exceptional service for all members on Member Relations phone line and through written correspondence, resolves incoming member/donor calls and inquiries as well as emails and written communication. Makes sure issues are resolved to completion. Answers questions related to, but not limited to, membership status, benefits of membership, current and future exhibitions, current and future membership events/programs, member giving history, matching gifts, tribute gifts, annual fund inquiries, and more. Works with other departments (especially Visitor Services, Volunteers, Development Operations, Museum Education and TicketMaster) to resolve member concerns. Records all communication (calls/letters) in Benefactor. Records all member premium redemption information in Benefactor. Conducts follow up calls as needed. Handle registrations for member events and programs. Able to complete all membership transactions and inquiries using Benefactor, PCI and CITI. Staffs the Member Lounge as back up when needed. Performs other duties as required.
Additional Info:
Performs light data entry, replacement cards/ member packet & address maintenance. A high degree of comfort with Benefactor (and possibly Excel) would be necessary. Mails News & Events, annual report, join us brochures and other membership mailings as needed. Documents voice mail daily. Performs research and files returned member packets. Again, this function would require comfort with Benefactor and the ability to use various websites (like whitepages.com, 411.com, Google, etc.) in order to perform research. Performs errands as needed (i.e. delivery/pick up of items/materials to Member Lounge or within the museum, like Graphics or Purchasing).
Required Qualifications/Skills: Exceptional customer service skills. Superior communication skills. Excellent problem solving skills. Ability to work with multiple software programs, including extensive database systems.
Preferred Qualifications/Skills: Must possess positive attitude, patience, a strong work ethic, and evidence of good judgment. Must be able to think on his/her feet, be flexible, and have a great sense of humor. Must maintain a professional and business like appearance at all times.
