Title: Black Harvest International Festival of Film and Video Internship

Duties/Responsibilities: The Gene Siskel Film Center of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago seeks an intern to assist with the 15th Anniversary of the Black Harvest International Festival of Film and Video (August 7-27). Black Harvest is the Gene Siskel Film Center’s annual showcase of the black experience on film and video with more than 30 entertaining, powerful, and provocative features, documentaries and shorts celebrating black culture worldwide. Black Harvest includes an opening night celebration and special events throughout the festival.
The Gene Siskel Film Center’s intern would work directly with the Executive Director and the Associate Director of Public Relations and Marketing.
The following are the Black Harvest Intern’s duties and responsibilities:
-Researching and gathering marketing information via the internet and other resources.
-Assisting with special events, including but not limited to press check-in and working with photographers at events.
-Working as a liaison with Filmmakers and Producers.
-Contacting individuals, organizations, and media to assist in bringing more visibility to the festival.
-Working on mailings and assisting to develop and maintain targeted mailing lists.
-Disseminating information about the festival and events through email, fax, and phone.
-General office work such as filing and answering phones.
-Other duties on an ongoing, as-needed basis.
The Gene Siskel Film Center of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago celebrates over 37 years of presenting independent and international cinema, film festivals, cutting edge programs, premieres, retrospectives, and classic films. Recognized internationally for its original film programming, the Film Center annually attracts a diverse audience of over 65,000.
