The Art Institute of Chicago
Image/Text: Youth Interprets the News
March 17–April 29, 2007
Studios 18-19

Overview: In collaboration with the National Museum of Mexican Art, the Art Institute exhibits work from the Posada Teen Partnership Program. Teen artists from the National Museum of Mexican Art’s Yollocalli Arts Reach program visited the exhibition José Guadalupe Posada and the Mexican Broadside at the Art Institute, explored the sociopolitical context of his work, and participated in an eight-week intaglio workshop at Yollocalli’s Pilsen-based studio. Image/Text displays the work created from this program, including drypoint prints and broadsides interpreting contemporary news and photographs documenting the process.
