Overview:

November 12, 2005–April 23,2006

The Coretta Scott King Award, established in 1970, recognizes the contributions African American authors and illustrators have made to the field of children's literature. This exhibition features a selection of original works of art from books that have received either winner or honor awards for their illustrations in the past five years. This award commemorates Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s life and work and honors his wife, Coretta Scott King, for her "courage and determination in continuing the work for peace and brotherhood."
