Teachers may choose to lead their students through the galleries without an Art Institute docent. We welcome teacher-led groups, but also require these groups to submit an online tour application due to space considerations. Teacher-led tours begin at 11:00 and run every half-hour until 4:00. Please use the online application form to register for a teacher-led visit.

PLEASE NOTE: Docent-led tours receive preference in scheduling tour times and gallery use. The total number of students in the museum is limited to ensure the best educational experience for everyone. Teacher-led groups must always yield to gallery tours conducted by Art Institute staff and docents.

To prepare your students for their visit, teachers can:

• Review with students the museum rules and expectations in the Planning Your Visit brochure (included with confirmation packet and available online).
• Look at the Collections pages of the Art Institute's Web site.
• Use or modify an existing self-guide or lesson plan based on works in the museum's collection.
• Explore the Educator Resource Finder.
• Visit the Crown Family Educator Resource Center.
