September 17, 2009 Designed Identities Design a self-portrait using digital photography and other art materials, then make your design into a wearable button.
October 15, November 12, and December 17, 2009 Photocollage Use digital photography to collage yourself into a fantastical scene and create your own photo album.

October 17, 2009 Found Object Bookmaking Visit the exhibition James Castle: A Retrospective and explore a variety of handmade book structures in this workshop. Participants will create handmade books using found, recycled, and traditional materials, as well as digital photography and new technologies.
November 7, 2009 Animated Art Visit the galleries for inspiration to create your own animated short using technology and traditional art materials. Learn about a variety of animation techniques in this in-depth studio workshop.
December 5, 2009 Photo Stories Use digital photography, collage, and Photoshop to create your own digital art after viewing the Photography exhibitions On the Scene: Jason Lazarus, Wolfgang Plöger, Zoe Strauss and Playing with Pictures: The Art of Victorian Photocollage.
Museology
Museology is an academic honors program for high school students in Chicago Public Schools that takes place at the Art Institute. Students meet weekly with educators, curators, and other museum professionals to gain an insider’s perspective on the Art Institute.

Art and Stories
Art and Stories is organized around the museum’s special exhibitions and curatorial departments. Selected 7th and 8th graders explore art and literature and take field trips that emphasize the cultural resources of the city of Chicago.

Teen Lab
Teen Lab is a group of creative high school students who meet after school to make art, learn about works in the Art Institute’s collection, and meet the people who work behind the scenes at the museum.
