Brâncusi’s work was first seen in the United States in 1913 at the Armory Show, presented in Chicago at the Art Institute. The city also has the distinction of hosting the first large solo exhibition of the work of Brâncusi at the Arts Club in 1927, which was installed by artist Marcel Duchamp. Collector and dealer Richard Feigen remembers that Brâncusi’s Golden Bird, now at the Art Institute, was purchased then by the Arts Club for $750. Tap to hear more about the Arts Club.
