Before the Opening: Walking Tours

Tuesday, May 12, 2009 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Wednesday, May 13, 2009 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Thursday, May 14, 2009 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Walking tours will be offered every 30 minutes and will last approximately two hours. The last tour departs two hours before closing.

After the Opening: Open Houses

Monday, May 18, 2009 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Tuesday, May 19, 2009 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Wednesday, May 20, 2009 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Friday, May 22, 2009 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. SOLD OUT
Reservations are available for 6:00, 6:30, and 7:00.

How to RSVP

There is no charge for these events. However, reservations are required and will be accepted in the order received. Entrance is limited to two people per membership. Members may reserve only one time slot for either the walking tours or the open houses.

Summer Events

We know you have questions about the Modern Wing, so we’re offering weekly opportunities to learn more! Beginning in June and running throughout the summer, we’re offering both member orientations and introductions to the Modern Wing.

Member Orientation
Join one of our volunteers on this walking tour of the Modern Wing. Learn about the art, architecture, and history behind the newest addition to the Art Institute. Tours last approximately one hour.

Introduction to the Modern Wing
Learn more about the Modern Wing with this brief video introduction to the Art Institute’s new galleries and educational spaces. A volunteer will be available for questions after the screening. Introductions last approximately 45 minutes.
