The gallery audio guide is a comprehensive overview that lets you explore the museum at your own pace. With its random-access format, the guide allows you to enter a gallery number into a small MP3 player to enjoy commentary on the collection. New tour stops highlighting the Modern Wing are available. Hear artists, conservators, and curators discuss individual objects, installations by contemporary artists, and in some cases, collections as a whole. The tour features 8 stops on the building itself and approximately 30 stops on the new second and third floor galleries.

Audio tours may be purchased with a ticket at an admissions counter or at audio tour counters in either the Michigan Avenue or Millenium Park lobby.

The recorded tour is free to visually impaired visitors, and an enlarged-type transcript of the tour is available for hearing-impaired visitors.
