The cozy apartment shines with festivity,
Glasses are raised… The clock strikes twelve…
The marvelous chime of the clock!... It tells the world
That on this earth a New Year is born.

Hello, ’46, year of our new glory,
Welcome in, o year of peaceful labor!
But the past year also is wonderful and grand,
Never shall it be erased from our heart.

The son has returned home… Wine bubbles in the goblet…
The flame of stars besprinkles the frosty fir.
“To our homeland’s happiness, to our own happiness!”
