Victory at Taganrog "was achieved as the result of a bold maneuver by cavalry and mechanized units that broke through the enemy lines."
(From a decree of the supreme commander)
The fierce battle of Taganrog has shown us
That wherever tanks destroy Fritz's positions,
Wherever the artillery strikes like an awesome god,
Wherever infantry faces a complex and torturous path,
There a rider moves at furious speed,
Full of will and fire,
Urging on his galloping horse,
Deciding with the tank driver the outcome of the battle.
The martial glory of the fearless Kuban Cossacks
Will never be diminished.
Side by side with the tanks the fierce cavalry
Brings death down onto the enemies’ heads!
