In that terrible year of forty-one
Having gathered riff-raff from all of Europe,
Fascists of all kinds
Marched on us.

But shame awaited the invaders:
Standing as an iron wall,
We dealt them a shattering blow
In the battle outside Moscow.

The battles were not easy,
The scoundrels broke through the Volga.
But Stalingrad firmly took
The Prussian regiments in pincers.

To those who strangled Leningrad,
We slashed from the shoulder,
And our sword cut off the hands
Of the German butcher.

We ran through the fire of battle
To the west, day and night.
To chase away the invaders
From our native land forever.

The enemy was brought to his knees,
He laid down his weapons.
And over Berlin a red standard
Was victoriously raised.

With a victory more celebrated than all others
The war has ended.
Blossom and prosper for many years,
Our dear land!
