About this artwork

A close connection to patterns from the Wiener Werkstätte can be seen in this design of birds in foliage. Several distinctive vegetal forms closely repeat elements seen in the textile, shown to the right, produced by the workshop in 1910/11. It is known that Poiret purchased large quantities of new fabrics from the workshop during his visit in late 1911, so perhaps the imitated piece was one of them.
