Base of salt bears incised stamped letters in capitals without serifs "HANDWROUGHT" and "STERLING" with central mark of letters for the craftsman's cypher "FAM" within a shaped rectangle; name, "India" engraved above mark in capitals without serifs; pepper grinder bears craftman's mark and sterling mark. 1959
