About this artwork

Trained as a watercolorist, Ito embraced organic abstraction, basing her work in nature while maintaining a connection to the fantastic. Drastically different than her award-winning lithograph From the Porch ), this charcoal drawing reflects the artist’s interest in morphing forms beyond recognition. Celebrated for her subtle palette and precisely painted surfaces, Ito would continue working in abstraction for the remainder of her career.
