Patterned side: silk, warp-faced, weft-ribbed plain weave (shioze); painted with India ink (sumi) and gold paint; lining: silk, wrap-faced, weft-ribbed plain weave (shioze); sewn with front and lining matched in size (Tachikire awrase); silk, running "controlling" stitches along all edges; corners: silk, knotted and re-piled fringe tassels
