Honky Tonk Man

Date:

1991

Artist:

Roger Brown
American, 1941-1997

About this artwork

Brown is best known for his remarkable cityscapes in which he employs a complex blend of linear and non-Western perspectives. More recently he has developed portraits of American folk heroes. This portrait of singer Hank Williams stylistically alludes to sideshow banners, a presentation that Brown finds appropriate to Williams’s milieu.
