Senior Celebrations The Modern Wing
Please join us for the 15th annual Senior Celebrations on Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009, as we celebrate the opening of the Modern Wing. "Senior Celebrations" is the free, annual kick-off day held in September to celebrate Art Insights, a program that brings free slide talks to senior groups, senior residences, and nursing homes. Generously funded by the Hulda B. and Maurice L. Rothschild Foundation, Senior Celebrations is designed to acquaint and reacquaint seniors with the Art Institute's collection.
From 10:30 to 2:30, guests enjoy a variety of programs exploring the Art Institute's collection. Enjoy a keynote lecture in Rubloff Auditorium and visit the galleries where Art Insights presenters lead five- to ten-minute presentations in front of museum masterpieces. Souvenir postcards enhance the small, informal talks. Music, a sketch class, and artist demonstrations are included in the day's events. Senior Celebrations is free to all seniors and includes museum admission, lectures, and gallery talks. Please use the COLUMBUS DRIVE ENTRANCE beginning at 10:00. An optional lunch in the Chicago Stock Exchange Trading Room and Millennium Park Room is available for $15. Senior centers are encouraged to provide transportation for groups. Senior Celebrations offers an optional lunch in the Chicago Stock Exchange Trading Room and Millennium Park Room for a fee of $15. RESERVATIONS ARE NECESSARY FOR LUNCH, and space is limited. 11:30 AND 12:15 LUNCHTIMES ARE FULL. ONLY WAIT-LIST RESERVATIONS ARE BEING ACCEPTED FOR THOSE TIMES. Individual tickets for lunch will be held at the door for pick-up on September 2nd beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the COLUMBUS DRIVE ENTRANCE to the Art Institute.
