Art Plus Girodet: Romantic Rebel
Painter/poet Anne-Louis Girodet de Roussy-Trioson flourished during the era of the French Revolution. A student of Jacques-Louis David, he assertively tried to outdo his mentor. Yannick Mercoyrol, cultural attache to the Consulate General of France, presents highlights of Girodet's literary work matched by a survey of his most noted paintings. Operatic parlor songs by composers like Gluck and Offenbach are presented by singers from the Lyric Opera Center for American Artists. A viewing of the exhibition Girodet: A Romantic Rebel follows.
